Sunday, July 24th
The 46th ICTM World Conference invites you to a number of activities that will take place on Sunday, July 24th. These activities will be a break in the intense program of work, and will take us to enjoy a bit of Sunday morning in Lisbon, and its sounds, by bike and on foot, and in the afternoon, to visit the town of Mafra to know a beautiful monumental set of the eighteenth century, the Royal Building of Mafra (World Heritage) with its basilica, where we will hear its six organs and the carillon. At the end of the day you will all be invited to a Porto de Honra (Port of Honor) in the South cloister, a convivial moment that includes tasting a Port Wine (a type of wine of ancient origins from the North of Portugal that has found its way around the world).
Come with us and enjoy the city, the music, the views and the wine!
1. Cycling Through Lisbon
On Sunday morning from 9 to 11 a.m., downhill from Campolide to the Tagus and along its shore to Belém is an unforgettable experience. The route we will take goes through Parque Eduardo VII, Terreiro do Paço and Cais do Sodré where we will be able to see part of the old and picturesque city center and the River Tagus. The meeting point will be at the main gate of the Conference Venue at 9 a.m. The number of participants is limited. Join us, register here (12,5€) - FULLY BOOKED
2. Sensorial Walk
On Sunday morning from 9 to 11 a.m., will lead you to experience various novelties in Lisbon. Walking, not to get there faster, nor to identify tourist spots, can open new ways of relating to urban spaces. Walking thus becomes an exercise in discovering other maps of the city of Lisbon, sensory maps, not necessarily dominated by visuality. Join us. The meeting point will be at the subway station Baixa-Chiado (Blue and Green Lines) at 9 a.m. and from there we will drift along some ups and downs of the city center finishing at Cais das Colunas, by the River Tagus, in Terreiro do Paço. Join us. The number of participants is limited, register here (5€) - FULLY BOOKED
3. Excursion to Mafra
On Sunday afternoon from 2 to 8 p.m., a visit to the magnificent musical site of the Royal Building of Mafra, 40 km North of Lisbon by highway, will provide two unforgettable musical performances and an exhibition of musical instruments. We will enjoy a unique six historical organs Concert in the baroque Basilica, a carillon Concert from the Mafra International Carillon Festival 2022 (a Portugal-France Cross Season) and the visit to the recently inaugurated Chinese Musical Instruments Collection of the Scientific and Cultural Center of Macau, for those interested. The sounding Sunday afternoon will end with a tasty Port of Honor with finger food in the South Cloister of the Convent. You can't miss it. The meeting point for the half-hour bus trip is at the Conference venue main gate at 2 pm (Sunday July 24th, 2022). The Night Walk across Fado Performance in Mouraria invites you to a travel in time to the semi-mythical origin of fado in a very old neighborhood of Lisbon, of Moorish reference. This is where the said mother of fado singer Maria Severa (1820-1846) lived. The last "Severa's house", recently rebuilt, was transformed into a fado house. Mouraria has officially become the "cradle of fado", as can be red in the marble sculpture of a Portuguese guitar placed at one entrance to the neighborhood. University students and a young PhD researcher prepared the tour. Join us and listen to fado in the old streets of Lisbon. The meeting point is at the main gate of Conference venue at 10 p.m.; a minibus will take us to the entrance of the old neighborhood. The number of participants is very limited, register here (5€) - FULLY BOOKED

Night Walk through Fado Performance in Alfama invites you to the oldest neighborhood of Lisbon where the medieval castle and the 12th Century Cathedral are located. Politically used as a symbol of the Portuguese capital city, this neighborhood served as the stage for successive nationalist performances in which fado played important roles. Different types of fado houses abound in the streets of the medieval urban layout, spared by the great earthquake of November 1st, 1755. University students and a young PhD researcher prepared the tour. Join us on July 25 at 10 pm, at the end of the Conference concert, to listen to fado in the oldest streets of Lisbon. The meeting point is at the main gate of the Conference venue at 10 p.m.; a minibus will take us to the entrance of the old neighborhood. The number of participants is very limited, register here (5€) - FULLY BOOKED
